Chapter 15: Nitro

Holly’s still asleep when someone knocks on my door the next morning. We were up all night having the kind of sex I’ve only dreamed about. It’s so much better when it’s with someone you actually care for. I’m in deep and I like it. Even though I’ve been half in love with her since the day I met her, being able to share the darkest parts of my soul with her changed everything. I have to protect her from her soon-to-be-ex. Maybe that’s why someone’s trying to get me up so damn early.

I glance at the clock on my nightstand. It’s not even seven a.m. What the hell? They know I never get up before ten.

Grumbling, I get out of bed and pull on a pair of jeans. I stomp over to the door and crack it open. Reaper’s standing outside.

“You know seven a.m. isn’t even a real time, right?” I ask.

He grunts and tries to look over my shoulder.

“Bro, do you want your ass beat?” I push him back a step before walking out to join him. I shut the door behind me. “What do you want?”

“Scar’s calling Church.”

“Did you guys find Polson last night?”

“No. He slipped away.”

“Again? He’s not a criminal mastermind. He’s a fucking doctor. How can he keep getting away?” I’m fucking pissed. My heart’s beating a mile a minute and I want to punch something.

Reaper shrugs. “Ten minutes till Church.”

“I’ll be there.”

As I head back into my room, Holly shifts on the bed. The sheet slips lower, revealing the curve of her luscious ass. I groan. Even though I’ve had her in every way possible in the last twelve hours, I want more. She’s the hottest woman on the planet, and she’s all mine.

“Come back to bed,” she murmurs.

I slide under the covers and pull the sheet back over her ass. There’s not enough time for what I want to do to her, so I’d better not start anything.

“Scar’s calling Church. They didn’t get your husband last night.”

“Maybe we should stop trying.”

“What? Why?”

“The divorce papers are filed. He hasn’t tried to contact me. Maybe he doesn’t care enough to do it. For all I know, he could be happy to be rid of me.”

“He’s an idiot.”

“Well, yes.” A slow smile brightens her face. “But, aside from that, he’s lazy.”

“I don’t buy it. He’ll try to get to you. I’ve seen this play out a hundred times before. You’re not going to be safe until someone teaches him a lesson in how to treat women.”

“Can’t we just let it go for now? You were so happy last night. Don’t let him ruin that feeling.” She wriggles closer. “Kiss me until you have to leave.”

I can’t resist giving her anything she wants. I’d find a way to steal the Hope Diamond if she asked me to. Nothing will stop me from trying to make her happy. Not even the guys. Until now, the club has always come first. It’s weird that things have changed so much in the last few days, but it’s undeniable.
